MICRONEEDLING
Microneedling is a method of inducing a controlled injury into the skin’s dermal and epidermal junction which induces growth factors, new collagen and elastin. This process causes much less damage to the epidermis than dermal rolling or other ablative treatment. Thus, protecting the skin’s cell growth, allowing for quicker healing and higher rates of success.
Our bodies make less collagen as we age. Your collagen production from microneedling will last even years later after just a single treatment.
What does microneedling treat?
- Face
- Neck
- Decolletage
- Hands
- Arms
- Legs
- Abdomen
- Back
What can be targeted through microneedling?
- Wrinkles
- Skin laxity
- Scars (Acne, surgical, traumatic)
- Stretch Marks
- Pore size
- Hair Restoration
- Skin Texture
Typically 3-6 treatments are recommended depending upon your area of correction or concern. Treatments are spaced 4 weeks apart and performed by Dr. Andrea LaTorre.

HAIRLOSS TREATMENT PLATELET RICH PLASMA (PRP)
Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) is obtained by drawing a sample of your blood and spinning it down to obtain the PRP from your blood sample. PRP has 5 times the concentration of platelets compared to regular blood. PRP contains many growth factors and proteins that help you heal and support collagen synthesis. Results are gradual and take months to reach full effects. PRP can be used for facial, neck, under eye area, and décolletage rejuvenation as well as hairloss. PRP is most useful for androgenetic alopecia (also known as “male pattern baldness” and “hormonal/age-related hairloss”).
Androgenetic alopecia (AGA) is a common hair loss disorder caused by genetic and hormonal factors that are characterized by androgen-related progressive thinning of scalp hair in a defined pattern. By the age of 60 years, 45% of men and 35% of women develop AGA. Currently, U.S. Food and Drug Administration-approved treatments for AGA including some oral medications. Due to the limited number of effective therapies for AGA, platelet-rich plasma (PRP) has become an effective alternative treatment. PRP is an autologous concentration of platelets in plasma with numerous growth factors that contribute to hair regeneration. (Platelet-rich plasma for androgenetic alopecia: A review of the literature and proposed treatment protocol. Int J Womens Dermatol. 2019 Feb; 5(1): 46-51)
Preparation
Stop blood thinners 48 hours in advance of procedure including ibuprofen/motrin, aleve and fish oil. Do not take aspirin for one week prior to the PRP session. If you take plavix, warfarin/coumadin or other anticoagulant medications for your cardiovascular health, you should not have PRP treatment.
Results
End results vary by patient. They depend on many factors including aggressiveness of treatment, adherence to treatment care regimen, proper nutrition and good general health. The most important being the degree of cumulative sun and environmental damage to your skin and tissues. Further changes after treatment can affect your skin including sun exposure, normal aging, weight loss/gain, menopause etc and require future maintenance treatment sessions.
PRP treatment is typically performed approximately once per month for a series of 3-4 initial treatments. Maintenance therapy is advised every 6-12 months.
Side effects are rare and minimal with PRP since it is a product of one’s own body therefore a more natural treatment. Swelling, bruising, or redness are the most common side effects. Infection or pigment changes are possible but rare as well.
Sun protection is essential. Showering can be done the following day. Refrain from washing the treated area that evening as it will wash off the PRP.
Plan on ~60 minutes for your appointment due to the complex nature of obtaining and preparing your PRP.
