Ethics

Participating in a clinical trial is not right for every patient. The clinical research team reviews each patient’s individual circumstances to ensure he is a suitable candidate for a study. If a patient is deemed an ideal candidate for a trial, the research team reviews all associated benefits and risks to allow the patient to make the most educated decision. There are several benefits to participating in a clinical trial. Participants have the opportunity to play an active role in their own health care, gain access to new investigational treatments before they are made widely available, help others by contributing to the advancement of medical science through research, and obtain payment for their participation. Regardless of pay, participation in clinical trials is always voluntary. Patients are permitted to drop out of a study at any time for any reason.
